Steak Pesto Kebabs
It isn’t summer until we grill up the first kebabs! These Pesto Steak Kebabs are so delicious are perfect for a barbeque or picnic. Loaded with steak, potatoes, peppers, onions, tomatoes and zucchini, they are colorful and quite nutritious.

As much as I love pesto, I haven’t actually made it many times until now. It is so easy! Just make sure that you have a strong food processor or blender to make sure it gets very smooth. I actually liked this pesto better the next day because it had time for the flavor to really set in- kind of like homemade salsa. I recommend making it at least a couple of hours ahead of time if you can.
Steak Kababs with Pesto
I loaded these kebabs with grape and cherry tomatoes, sliced zucchini, red onion, a couple of colors of bell peppers and potatoes. To make sure that the potatoes cooked all the way, I partially cooked them ahead of time in the microwave. This softens them so that they cook nicely on the grill and are not too hard.

I’m going to be super honest and say that I hate stringing food on a skewer and for about half of the ingredients, I tossed them in a grill pan and they cooked just as nicely that way. I tossed the cooked ingredients with pesto and it was delicious. My husband doesn’t even like pesto (he must be crazy!) and he liked putting a little bit of this pesto on his food. Progress!

Pesto Steak Kebabs

Pesto Steak Kebabs are loaded with tender steak, potatoes, peppers, onions, tomatoes and zucchini and are topped with a homemade basil pesto!

Prep Time: 25 minutes Cook time: 10 minutes Total time: 35 minutes


  • 1 large Russet potato
  • 1 pound steak of choice, cut into cubes
  • 1 medium chopped zucchini
  • 1 chopped red and yellow peppers
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onion
  • 3/4 cup grape tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Pesto
  • 3 cups basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts
  • 4 cloves garlic


  1. Poke holes in potato with a fork and cook in the microwave for 4 minutes until the potato is partially soft. Chop all vegetables and steak into 1-inch pieces. Thread veggies, potatoes and steak onto skewers and drizzle kebabs with olive oil.
  2. Grill kebabs on medium-high for about 5 minutes per side until steak is cooked to your liking and vegetables are softened and have some grill marks on them.
  3. Meanwhile, blend together all ingredients for the pesto until it is very smooth.
  4. Top cooked kebabs with pesto sauce or dip it into pesto on the side.
